1KA Panels
A survey paneling system for the 1KA survey platform
2021-2023
What is it?
In survey research, a panel is a pool of participants who have opted in to receive surveys, often in exchange for a reward. Panel owners use the demographic data collected at sign-up to target specific groups for specific studies. 1KA didn't have a tool for managing this, and this project was about building one.
It started as a university group assignment: a competitive analysis of existing panel management tools, documenting their features, information architecture, and interface patterns. The client was 1KA. The output was a research report and a plan for how 1KA might approach building its own.
Over a year later I was brought in to design the actual feature. The earlier research gave me a working structure to start from: which sections the tool needed, how information should be organised across them, and a library of reference screenshots already gathered. The design got most of the way there before I put it on hold to focus on my master's thesis, after which I left 1KA.
